Here's the TENTH tutorial in our Stretchy Wrap series! This one is another newborn-to-toddler favorite: Hip Wrap Cross Carry tied at shoulder. No twists in the wrap this time, and baby is placed on the wearer's hip (both unlike the very similar but different Pocket Wrap Cross Carry tied at shoulder, which was video number three from the series). Babylonia Tricot Slen Cool hybrid wrap joins us again; Doctor Who gear from Designed by Geeks.
To tie, the wrap starts over shoulder with the middle marker hanging in front at the wearer's chest. Bring the shorter tail that is behind the wearer across the wearer's back, under arm and around front, under the opposite arm, and up the wearer's back to cover the yet uncovered shoulder. Now we have a pocket on the wearer's front and an "X" on back. The long tail comes through the pocket, then check to be sure the inside edges of the wrap at both sides of the wearer's neck "towels" back and forth with the top edge of the "pocket" at front. Wrap the long tail around the wearer and under both passes on the wearer's front to end with a slip knot at shoulder. Bring baby into the pass closest to the wearer, then the second cross pass. Place baby on the wearer's body where you'd like them to be and adjust their legs in a spread squat position (newborns may keep their legs in for this carry, just be sure the wrap supports baby's weight at their bum, not feet). Spread the first pass over baby, then bring the slack down and around back, then up through the second pass over baby. The slack from the second pass comes up to the wearer's shoulder, then back across the wearer's back to the pocket pass. Bring most of the slack across the pocket pass, back across the wearer's back and up through the slip knot. Now bring the pocket pass up baby's back, feed any additional slack behind and up through the slip knot. Spread the shoulders as is comfortable.
