The main entrance to the Louvre always has a huge line. This line is for the timed entry tickets. It is best to purchase your tickets ahead of time. They will be for a specific time. But if you don't want to wait in line for your time to arrive. You can enter below even if its before the time stated on your ticket.
The Louvre is always busy, but if you visite first thing in the morning, it's a little better.
