Tomorrow isn't a school day. Mom and Dad are letting you stay up a little late. So take a seat on The Big Orange Couch because live from New York it's Saturday Night Nickelodeon. Well okay, it's not live, and it's not from New York, but it is SNICK.
This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Saturday nights (from eight at night to ten) on Nickelodeon's SNICK block in 1997. More specifically, it takes most its inspiration from a late fall schedule for 1997. Certain shows (like Kenan & Kel, Rugrats, The Secret World of Alex Mack, and Are You Afraid of the Dark? to name a few) can't be used for copyright reasons. These shows were substituted with other great shows that played on SNICK around the same time. Think of it as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday night broadcast.
This is the seventh and final bonus video I made to commemorate the finale to the Saturday morning cartoon videos, which was released earlier today. These bonus videos have been a real blitzkrieg/zerg rush. I get the feeling that they won't get that a lot of people won't watch the majority of the videos because it's a lot of videos in a short amount of time (30 hours of footage in one week). I had considered for a bit releasing these videos later, one a week, but ultimately decided against it because I'd rather not drag it out for another month or two. I'd rather go out with a bang than a whimper. Originally I also wasn't planning to do a full week of bonus videos, just one or two. But once I did the first couple, I realized there were more I could do and decided to go for it. As for this video, I had a few difficulties with footage from Space Cases being not that great in terms of quality, and a lot of the Allen Strange episodes have annoying watermarks on them, which is why I anachronistically used an episode from 1998 rather than one from 1997. Even then, none of them had a good usable credit sequence, so I ultimately just cut a good portion of the end credits. But overall, I'm glad with how it turned out, especially that I was able to squeeze in a SNICK Snack into the lineup. As always, I hope you enjoy watching the video as much as I did putting it together.
Disclaimer: I do not make any money or accept any donations for these videos. I make them in my free time as a hobby, out of a love for old television, and because they're the kinds of videos I would like to be able to watch on Youtube. If you see Youtube ads (not commercials) on this video, that's because this video was copyright claimed by a variety of different companies, who chose to run ads on my video for their own profit. I also do not make these videos for children, but for adults like myself who are nostalgic for their childhoods. If the comments are disabled on this video or another like it, it's because Youtube set it as "for children." And that's the end of that disclaimer.
