Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s official visit to Peru in May will greatly enhance the bilateral cultural exchange and relations, Peruvian linguist and sinologist Guillermo Dañino told Xinhua Wednesday in Lima.
“It is possible to foresee that the visit will effectively lead to some progress in the cultural ties between the two countries,” said Dañino.
Apart from the trade activities during his stay in Peru, Li had a rich schedule of cultural events, including the attendance of the Meeting of China and Latin American Civilizations and the visit to the Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru.
“From a cultural point of view, it seems to me that the most important thing during Li’s visit is that he is interested in sharing the contents and values of both cultures,” said Dañino.
Dañino considered it as a “privilege” that Li chose Peru as one of his stops during his first official visit to Latin America as Prime Minister, which shows that Peru is an “interesting and important” country for China.
During the Premier’s visit, Dañino had a very brief exchange of greetings with him and recalled that as a teacher in China years ago, he had the opportunity to participate as an actor in the shooting of films and television dramas.
“He recognized me right away and of course, laughed and talked about the movies in which I was involved, also about the books I was working on about Chinese culture,” said Dañino.
China and Peru established diplomatic ties in 1971 and enhanced the ties to strategic partnership in 2008.
