Did you ever get tired of hearing "lost brakes" every time a bus crashes?
The MMDA flagged down speeding buses and gave them warnings to obey the busway speed limit
When the Busway was first launched, there were many accidents involving buses and barriers. That's why the DOTr implemented a 50 KPH speed limit. The accidents stopped almost immediately.
But after awhile, the drivers became confident again and there's been an increase in accidents. You've probably seen the buses overtaking cars and motorcycles at a rapid pace.
I zoomed into the dashcamm video and watched it in slow motion. The quality isn't that good but it looks like the rear of the bus rises slightly, just before the barrier falls down. That suggests that the rear tire of the bus might have clipped the barrier.
The radar device used by the MMDA has a +-2KPH accuracy rating and is privately owned. Only warnings were given to the bus drivers.
