I have long been wanting a gas fired kiln for my pottery. The primary reason is that I want to be able to do glaze firing in reduction.
This can create colors that cannot be done in an electric kiln with a neutral or oxidized atmosphere. You need an oxide reduction fire for that - in a gas or wood fired kiln.
You can buy commercial gas kilns but they are expensive and I want something special to serve my needs. So I have decided to build one instead.
Building a gas fired kiln for pottery is a long journey - at least for me. I will be documenting every step of the way - here at YouTube. This video is the first step.
