A legendary entry level budget hybrid bike that is certainly a favorite among many enthusiasts is the riverside 120. Built from steel, this unsex frame design is suitable for men and women with a height between 5.1 feet to 6.3 feet. This riverside is available only in dark grey and is a perfect bike for daily exercise and leisure riding.
Costing just 12,999 the bicycle weighs around 13.9 to 14.3 kgs depending on the bicycle size you choose. Please note this weight is without any bicycle accessories which you will be required to buy separately as per your requirement.

Unlike most brands, decathlon offers Lifetime warranty on the frame & fork and 2 years warranty on non-wearing parts. This is surely a winner!

The riverside 120 also comes with a threaded steel rigid fork that is attached to a single piece welded handlebar. The handle is pretty wide and gives the rider a good open chested position.

Drive train:

Now moving on to the gears, the riverside 120 comes with a 1X8 microshift gear system. These gears are easily controlled with the help of a microshift shifter that has been around for quite some time. Unlike the lower versions of the btwin geared cycles, the riverside does not come with grip shifters.

The shifting is seamless and these gears can surely take a beating on your rides. Besides, the Microsoft system also does not require much maintenance.

Brakes:
When it comes to stopping, decathlon has been pretty consistent with Good quality V brakes. These brakes are similar to the ones we saw on the new model of Btwin St30. You can watch the review here.

Just like the gears, these brakes are too easy to use and maintain.

Wheels:

As it's a hybrid, you are likely to find 700C single walled anodized rims that are decent. However, they might need truing on a timely basis. Double walled rims would surely add more weight, however, they would be a game changer.

These single walled rims hold Hartex 700C tyres that are decent. We somehow prefer the old btwin nylon tyres over the hartex as the ride does feel a bit bumpy.

Seat: coming to the saddle, there’s been no change in the seat design as well. They are pretty basic with a long nose. We’d recommend decathlon to come with better bicycle saddles that have a shorter nose and a wider rear for more comfort. T
his will surely take the comfort game to the next level. Until then we advise you to use a good seat cover that will surely allow you to sit for longer durations.

What we didn’t like was that the bicycle comes with quick release on both the wheels, however, there’s no quick release on the seat post for quick and easy adjustments. This is surely something we didn’t expect and would like decathlon to immediately change it in the future models.

Coming to the grips, these are the same grips you can find on older btwin riverside models. We would surely prefer something softer as compared to the current ones.
