The 22-year-old sister of Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas died in a car accident in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Chyna J Thomas, of Tacoma, Washington, crashed her vehicle when it drifted out of the left lane on the southbound Interstate 5 near South 288th Street.
Washington State Patrol said her 1998 Toyota Camry careened 50 feet off of the roadway and hit a barrier, which launched the car into a sign post near Federal Way.
'All of a sudden it started to drift very casually onto the left shoulder,' said Trooper Nick King, a State Patrol spokesman.
When she hit the Jersey barrier, 'that vaulted the vehicle head-on into the sign post,' King continued.
Chyna Thomas was reportedly not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Facebook, she was a package handler for Federal Express and a former student at Tacoma School of the Arts.
The incident reportedly took place at around 5am on Saturday morning.
Isaiah Thomas is a high-scoring guard for the Boston Celtics. From Tacoma, he played at Curtis High School and the University of Washington.
The Celtics and the NBA both tweeted out condolences to the Thomas family, who have yet to make a statement.
