When your template routing project involves plywood, you need a router bit designed with plywood in mind and when the pattern includes small inside radius corners, you need a 1/4" diameter. Our Compression Bits combine the best of both Up-Cut and Down-Cut designs. Up-Cut bits clear the shavings most efficiently, but can chip the top edge of the cut in plywood. Down-Cut bits leave a beautiful edge on the top surface, but can tear out the bottom edge. On a Compression Bit, the first 1/4" is Up-Cut with the remaining cutting length Down-Cut. The shearing action is always toward the center of your material. Twin bearings mounted very close to the cutting edge guide your cut along a template or substrate material.
