Gunfire broke out among rival biker gangs during a fight in Waco, Texas on Sunday afternoon, leaving at least nine people people dead, according to police.
The fight took place at a Twin Peaks restaurant located at the Central Texas Marketplace.
Authorities said they were aware biker gangs frequented the establishment and had anticipated trouble would take place, and steps were taken to pre-position officers, CNN reported.
"There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues," said police spokesman Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, according to CNN.
The fight began inside the restaurant before spilling into the parking lot. It quickly escalated from hands and feet, to gunfire, according to Swanton.
CNN affiliate KWTX reported that more than 100 weapons were recovered from the scene, and Waco police said officers were continuing to arrest people who arrived later with weapons.
Swanton told reporters that eight people were killed at the scene. Another person was later pronounced dead at hospital. All of the victims are believed to be bikers.
