In the second career profiled this week, Heather from Orewa College is off to Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) Ltd to check out what's involved in being a key account manager in a large corporate organisation. Business Development Manager Mike Tutty introduces Heather to the world of Coca-Cola, which is certainly a large one with around 1100 people employed throughout the country.
The role of the key account manager is to maintain the relationship between the company and key customers. This means ensuring the customers are happy, kept updated regarding new products and the lines of communication are kept open. Heather learns the company gives its sales staff extensive in house training which gives everyone the platform to achieve. The sales team also meets regularly to learn what's going on within the company and pass on new information to customers. Heather sits in on a meeting and also gets an insight into a new product being taken to the market and tests her skills at getting a customer to try out the new product in their shop.
Heather has been impressed by her experience with Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) Ltd and the opportunities working for the company presents with both its products and significant involvement in the community.
