What are the rights of people fleeing the war in Ukraine and coming to Europe?
Can non-Ukraine nationals return to their country of origin?
How can we better protect people and minimise the risks of falling into the hands of human traffickers?
You can find out the answers to these questions and more in this video from the event organised by the EU Commission, Directorate General in charge of Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) at the Ukrainian civil society hub in the Station Europe jointly with NGO Promote Ukraine who is active in helping refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
The gathering allowed participants to get a better understanding of the needs and practical challenges facing civil society organisations. In this video Esther Pozo (Head of the Asylum Unit at DG HOME) presents the Temporary Protection Directive: who is eligible under this Directive; what rights people under temporary protection have; and for how long it will last. Karolina Hjers (Policy Officer in the Anti-trafficking team at DG HOME) presents actions to fight trafficking in human beings and protecting the most vulnerable, such as women and children, including unaccompanied minors escaping the war.
Tina Zournatzi (Head of the Communications Unit at DG HOME) highlighted the EU Commission's work on providing key information to those in need via the corporate website: [ Ссылка ]
