Iceland has countless waterfalls. Some are overly crowded with tourists and buses pulling up constantly.
These are 5 of our favorite waterfalls, which are all lesser-known. They require hikes (both short and long hikes) but are all well worth it!
Put them on your "Iceland Travel List!"
1. Nauthusagil is close to the more touristy Seljalandsfoss, but requires a wet hike up a green moss-lined canyon.
2. Litlanesfoss is a stunning waterfall surrounded by basalt columns on the hike up to the popular Hengifoss waterfall.
3. Myrdalsjokull Glacier near Vik has several waterfalls cascading out of the glacier, but requires a guide for a visit.
4. Studlafoss is on the hike in to the Insta-famous Studlagil Canyon in Eastern Iceland.
5. Kvernufoss is down the road from the popular Skogafoss waterfall, but arguably more majestic. It emerges at the end of a short hike like something out of a fairy tale.
