What is the difference between probation and parole. Probation is a sentence ordered by a judge. Parole is a decision of a parole board. Parole is not in the hands of a judge. In probation the judge can decide to not send you to jail, send you to jail for a time or send you to jail for the rest of your sentence. In parole, if you violate, the parole board decides if you should go back to prison, for how long and if you are released again. This the is biggest difference between probation and parole. I hope this helps. Continue to watch, listen and learn. If you need me reach out. Thanks
