The Etihad Rail national rail network, an important transportation artery in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that was jointly constructed by a Chinese company, is set to become a key transportation corridor linking industrial hubs and highly populated areas and ports.
With a total length of 1,200 kilometers, the Etihad Rail project extends across the UAE from the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman and is an important part of the Gulf railway network.
So far, about 75 percent of the railway construction has been completed.
In more than two years of efforts, the project team has set records such as pouring more than 10,000 square meters of concrete in a single time, laying 7.2 kilometers of track in a single day, and completing all nine tunnels in 422 days.
