Hello my friends! As I promised in my last video (if you haven't watched it yet, here's the link: [ Ссылка ]), I have published something during these long summer weeks of work, and this something is my interpretation of the Prelude of the first cello suite by J.S. Bach.
This suite is a piece I love a lot, and which I have been playing often (and which I'm planning to make a proper recording of any soon), and the Prelude is one of my favourite parts of it.
In this video I'm using a rather unusual setup, especially given the fact that I play on historical instruments most of the time. The bass you see is an unexpectedly good laminate bass I bought on the internet some time ago, which has literally saved my life this summer playing opera in the open air; heat waves, humidity, locusts (...well, not exactly, but a loooooot of mosquitos) etc. would have made it really hard (and dangerous!) for my old carved basses. Next to its sturdiness, this bass sounds particularly good, especially for the ridiculous price I paid for it, thus I thought it earned to have at least one piece recorded with it!.
In my right hand, a wonderful renaissance bow by Coen Engelhard, with Leatherwood rosin on it (all the gear is linked in the description).
Have a great summer, and enjoy some Bach!
