Part 23 in our #scrummaster #interviewquestions series where John McFadyen answers common questions asked of #scrummasters and #agilecoaches in interviews and client engagements.
In a traditional #projectmanagement environment, a #projectmanager will work with project stakeholders and sponsors to identify the scope of the project, the outcomes that must be delivered, and the time frame in which the project must be delivered.
In an #agile environment, a #productowner does something similar in that they work with customers and product stakeholders to identify the most valuable work that needs doing or the most compelling problems that need solving. They then prioritize that work in the form of a backlog and engage with the developers to help them understand why the work is valuable, when it is most valuable, and how it will delight end-users.
This interview question touches on that process but assumes that a product owner is behaving more like a project manager than a product owner and asks you how you would respond to this behaviour.
In this short video, John McFadyen explains how he would deal with this specific issue, as a scrum master or agile coach, and provides you with some insights into how to answer this question in an interview.
