Simple Hyperaemia of Conjunctiva is of two types viz acute transient hyperaemia and recurrent or chronic hyperaemia. Etiologically, the former type can be caused by direct irritants or nonspecific Inflammation while the later can be due to chronic smokers, prolonged heat and dust exposure.

Next, chemosis of conjunctiva is discussed which can be caused due to local inflammatory conditions, local obstruction as well as some systemic causes such as Urticaria. Alongside, ecchymosis of conjunctiva is highlighted which is also known as subconjunctival Hemorrhage. Then types of xerosis of conjunctiva come under consideration i.e. parenchymatous xerosis and epithelial xerosis.

In addition to this, a condition known as discoloration of conjunctiva is delineated which is subdivided into variety of discoloration such as red discoloration, yellow discoloration, greyish discoloration, brownish grey discoloration, blue discoloration, and brown pigmentation. The etiology of these variety of discolorations varies from one another and is discussed comprehensively in the lecture.
