What’s happening in this movie clip?
Samuel introduces his fiancée Susannah to his family. She is in the car with the colonel, while Samuel and Alfred are on horseback. Everyone is very well dressed, and they are on their way to meet Tristan, who soon arrives on horseback too. He is dressed more savagely, and his brother Alfred does not miss this opportunity and showers him, which amuses Susannah. Tristan and Susannah seem to be charmed by each other. The reunion between Samuel and his eldest is very warm, and soon the two brothers decide to invite Alfred to the party, dragging him down from his horse. Susannah enjoys this situation a lot.

What’s the movie about?
The story takes place in the 1960s, and is told by an old Indian. In the early 1900s, Colonel Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) and his three sons Alfred, Tristan and Samuel, moved to a ranch in Montana. Samuel falls in love with Susannah, a young woman who immediately conquers her two brothers’ hearts. They’re engaged, but Samuel is abruptly killed on the front during World War I. Alfred declares himself to Susannah, but she rejects him. Tristan also plans to marry her, but traumatized by the death of his brother, he can't get involved in this relationship and decides to go traveling. Susannah makes the decision to return to Alfred, who by then became a congressman - much to the discontent of his father - and they married. When Tristan finally returns, he marries Isabelle 2, the daughter of a family who has always lived on the ranch, and has two children with her. She is killed by corrupt policemen, and Tristan avenges her by killing them. Susannah commits suicide because she’s still in love with Tristan. Tristan is chased by the sheriff and his men because of his revenge, and he ends up alone with his father to confront them. The old man miraculously manages to eliminate the three policemen, but the sheriff is about to shoot the Ludlows, when he is killed unexpectedly. It is Alfred. Saving his family, he manages to reconcile with them. Tristan runs away, leaving his children to Alfred, to prevent reprisals. In closing, we see him dying old, confronting a bear, in 1963.
