People across the northern hemisphere were treated to a dazzling view of the aurora borealis on Monday, October 11.

This clip, taken by Patrick Traudt, shows the lights shimmering over Vincent Lake in Alberta, Canada.

The northern lights were also visible in the UK and the US on Monday.
