I've gotten a lot busier with work, so I need to scale back on the informational videos. But I can't stop making music! I've been slowly working on two albums in parallel (kind of a bad idea actually) and this song came about as I was experimenting with a bunch of gear. So, while working on two albums I guess I'll end up making the equivalent of a third by the time I'm done?
Anyway, I love how this track came together.
I first improvised on the lap harp into Blooper and then manipulated the loop in all kinds of ways with Habit and Ottobit. I had a simply enormous reverb going on my (newly acquired) Lexicon Model 200. It's a fantastic reverb. It doesn't sound like anything I own or have used before. It's fantastic.
After recording a pass of the manipulated lap harp, I improvised over it with my Concertmate 200 (rebranded Casio VL-1) into Blooper and Ottobit (mostly for the filter). This chain also went into the Model 200 but with a much less wet verb.
That's the whole track! All hail effects :)
If you'd like me to do a deep dive explaining how I compose music with any of the gear in the video please let me know in the comments. I'll put something together as soon as I can.
