Performance of Carpe Diem, the short (about 2 min.) 3rd movement of the 7-part, 23-minute piece A Change of Seasons by Dream Theater (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Change_of_Seasons) from 1995.
On the original, John Petrucci used a classical guitar (nylon strings), but I think it sounds good on steel strings as well. Maybe I'll record a classical version as well for comparison. The original also has vocals, which you should be thankful I did not add here.
Performed on a Martin 000-28, recorded using a prototype Mojotone pickup directly into an audio interface. These days I'm typically mixing the pickup and a large diaphragm condenser mic, but for this it was just the pickup.
Full disclosure - the audio and video recordings were done separately. That is, I first recorded the audio and then made the video of myself playing along with that. Yeah, I know - it's cheating...
