WW2 GERMAN ANTI-TANK GUN ON UTAH BEACH
Utah Beach is possibly our most visited of all the landing beach areas as there are so many accessible bunker sites along its length.
At the southern most end of you can enjoy a visit to the Utah Beach museum, a superb experience both inside and outside of the museum with many fascinating objects, vehicles, and memorials.
The museum was built on top of a German bunker complex known as Wn05 La Madeleine which included this 1694 type concrete Ringstand built for a 5cm KwK anti-tank gun.
These guns were originally created as the main weapon in early German tanks but quickly became obsolete as armour improved so a front shield was added and they took on positions along the beach defences on the Atlantikwall.
Who’s visited Utah Beach or is planning a trip this year?
