Home made benchtop metal mini lathe, making the bed. This is the first part, where I show my attempt to make a DIY mini lathe at home. The very first attempt was a failure, and I've scrapped the part because unsatisfactory. The new design went much better, much robust and hopefully rigid.
Also I've planned the possibility to fill the bed with concrete or epoxy-granite or polyesther-granite to help dump vibrations and make the bed more "dead" and stable. Also, off camera I've built a makeshift oven to heat the part at 600C to relax the tensions caused by welding.
