King Boris III of Bulgaria died on 28 August 1943 aged 49. Boris had taken his country into World War 2 on the side of Hitler which had territorial benefits in lands taken from Romania, Yugoslavia and Greece although he refused to declare war on the USSR. Boris also refused Hitler's demands to deport the Jewish population of pre 1940 Bulgaria although plans were advanced even to the ordering of rolling stock. However the Jewish population of newly occupied lands was deported.

Two weeks before his death, Boris had flown to Rastenburg for a meeting with Hitler. The two German doctors who looked after him during his final illness believed that he had been poisoned with the same poison that had shown up in the post mortem of the Greek leader Metaxas in 1940.

Today Boris is regarded as a hero in Bulgaria with major streets being named after him in Sofia and Plovdiv.

If you are watching on a mobile you will see #Shorts come up but not if you are watching on a computer. I don't think that this is what my audience wants to see, but on the off chance that it might be, I am going to give it a try by doing previews of videos that will come up in the future.
