Using an air excavation device and backfilling the holes with compost decompacts soil, adds nutrients to the soil, enhances macropore space, increases the rate of water infiltration, improves gas exchange, reduces the risk of damage to a tree’s fibrous roots, and minimizes the chance for turf grass to leach nutrients from the compost!
