Guttural Variations! For fry scream and false cord scream gutturals all of the mouth shapes are the same, and when balanced will create huge differences between each version using the least amount of effort.
Getting a balanced low Fry Scream using a comfortable note is crucial for the first round, so work on that first if you need to and come back to this! Keep the sound production consistent with each mouth shape change, you want to avoid squeezing from the chest or feeling the need to use extra air pressure from the diaphragm, as well as trying not to make the scream louder in order to make it sound more intense.
The shaping and balance will provide all the projection strength you need. Combining fry scream and subtle arytenoid cartilage distortion (that buzzer or race car noise) can be tricky, but give it time and practice and your body can get there.
Apply the same steps with that and eventually the False Cord Scream version and you'll have endless options for all the guttural sounds you could ask for. You can learn a lot more about this in our online program EVI Now!
