Let's play Dark Souls 1. An "ultimate" walkthrough / playthrough using everything I've learned to this point. Gameplay tips and lore investigations all tied into one, using all the things I've figured out through the years and my knowledge of Fromsoft's development processes. I didn't realize this until the other day, but I haven't actually done a full run of Dark Souls since working on the official guides for Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne. I learned a lot during that time, so this should be good!
Today, we explore the Undead Asylum and discuss some of the cut content. We also check out some early concept artwork so you can see how the enemy placement changed from the concept stage to the final product.
I'm playing the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on PC. I'm using the (wonderful) DSfix mod by Durante and a custom Black Hard Leather Texture by Magnanimous Mudd. You can get the texture here:

I'm playing the game at 30 FPS because that is the native framerate, and there are gameplay elements tied to the framerate. Things get glitchy at 60 FPS.
