There’s no denying it – city breaks in Edinburgh are always a treat. During the summer, the city transforms into an atmospheric hive of activity, with festivals and new experiences aplenty.
Wandering around the hilly city is a great way to start, with many things to do in Edinburgh built upon ancient geology, including the imposing Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill and Salisbury Crags, each offering incredible panoramic views.
Boogie the night away at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival in July, or wander up the Royal Mile whilst the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is in full swing in August. Don’t miss the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, an unforgettable spectacle which unfolds every year on the castle esplanade.
Of course, there are plenty more fabulous Edinburgh attractions to enjoy. Sip on some tasty drams at the Scottish Whisky Experience at the top of the Mile. Meet the exotic animals at Edinburgh Zoo, or see Edinburgh’s own favourite pet, the statue of Greyfriars Bobby.
Be mesmerised at Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, or chill out amongst beautiful flowers and vibrant plant species in the Royal Botanics Gardens Edinburgh. Finish off the weekend with a hearty meal at the cosy Sheep’s Heid Inn in Duddingston.
With so much going on, one thing’s for certain – you’ll be glad you made the time for Edinburgh!
