Breezy conditions are expected to continue this evening. With valley highs around 90° Sunday, this is the coolest day we'll experience... before the heat wave begins. Monday's highs will be closer to seasonal averages, with valley highs in the low to mid 90's. Expect sunshine and lighter wind.
Valley lows this week will not be very cool, bottoming out in the upper 60's to near 70°. After the sun rises each day, we'll get a quick jump on the temps and head for the triple digits from Tuesday through Friday. While we're not expecting any records to be tied or broken, temps will be around 7 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages through most of the week ahead.
A little monsoonal moisture will work in late Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a bit more cloud cover. This may keep temperatures from reaching the full potential... but still very hot -- and well above average. Due to this monsoonal moisture, there will be a very slight chance for isolated storms through the middle of the week; favoring Eastern Oregon and the high country in Idaho.
Overall, conditions will stay "high and dry" through the extended period, with high pressure taking its hold over the region. Try to limit outdoor exposure (sun and heat), especially between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., drink plenty of water and check on friends and neighbors -- especially the very old and young.
