The Toyota Corolla was launched back in 1966 and became the best selling car worldwide by 1974. In 1997 it actually outsold the Volkswagen Beetle and in 2021 had sold over 50 million cars. The Toyota Corolla gets its name from the Toyota Crown, a much bigger car that Toyota used to produce. Corolla is the name for a small crown and the Toyota Corolla is a smaller version of the Crown, hence the name. Now in its 12th generation, the car comes in four different trim levels, Icon, Design, GR Sport and kitchen sink or top of the range trim, the Excel. There are 19 colour choices with solid colours included in the base price of between £30,000 and £36,000. There are two engine choices, both hybrid assisted, a 1.8L or a 2.0L both of which are coupled to a CVT gear system.
