Did your FSA bottom bracket brake down and you don´t wanna invest to a whole new crank set just because of that?

This video is a slow paced documentation of replacing the FSA Mega Exo bottom bracket with Shimano Ultegra (Hollowtec II).

The original FSA bearings of my cyclocross bike broke down just after a 1,5 years. By doing some searches with google it came clear that the FSA bearings are not made to last. I didn´t want to replace the whole crank set as all the other parts were still in good shape. I read that the Mega Exo parts are almost identical to Shimano Hollowtech 2 standard parts, and that some people had replaced the original FSA bottom bracket with a Shimano Ultegra BB. Because of the bad reputation of FSA BB and the fact that they were over twice as expensive as Shimano Ultegra BB... the decision was easy.

Changing the bottom bracket is easy with the right tools. Hardest part was fitting FSA Gossamer cranks into the Shimano Ultegra BB as it was REALLY tight. Quite a lot of force was needed. :)
