Two Truths, One Lie

Ready to hear some amazing facts about your team? Two Truths, One Lie is a classic icebreaker game that reveals your employees, proudest and most interesting moments!

Here’s how to play. One at a time, ask your employees to share three unique statements about themselves, two of which will be true and one of which will be a lie. It’s up to the other players to go around the table and guess which one is the lie!

Word Association

Next up, we’ve got Word Association. This easy-to-play word game is a great way to harmonise your team before a creative meeting.

Start by sitting in a circle. Player 1 begins by saying a one-word prompt, such as “mirror.” The next player to their left must then say a word that they immediately associate with the first word, like “reflection.” Continue to play until time runs out!

Desert Island Game

Looking for a quick mental warm-up? The Desert Island Game is an icebreaker that pushes your team to make difficult decisions.

To get ready, make a list of eight random items such as a shovel, string, sticky tape, or anything else you want to include! Your team must imagine that they’re about to take a one-way ferry to a deserted island and they can only take three of the items with them. Present your team with the pre-written list and ask them to choose which three items they would take and share their reasoning with the group!

Read My Lips

Next up, we’ve got Read My Lips. Just like the name indicates, in this game, the group will need to read the lips of their teammates. It’s a great game if you’re meeting over Zoom!

Start by splitting your group into two teams and select one person to host the game.

The host will provide the first player of each team with a simple phrase such as “I work harder than everybody else.” Make sure the other players don’t hear or see what the phrase is.

The first player then mimes the phrase to player two using only their mouth. The second player silently guesses what was said, turns to the third player and mimes the phrase again. Play continues until all players have “heard” the phrase. The last player then guesses what the original phrase was and shares their guess with the group. A correct guess wins your team a point!

Whose Story Is This Anyways?

Last but not least, we’ve got Whose Story Is This Anyways? and it’s a perfect game if your goal is to form deeper connections with your team members.

Begin by handing each player a sheet of paper and a pen. Provide a prompt, such as “Your bravest moment…” and ask the players to write down a true story about themselves.

Once everybody has finished writing, place each folded piece of paper into a bucket. Mix up the stories and pick one out to read aloud. It’s up to your team to guess who wrote it. The game continues until all stories have been read.
