Sufi dervishes in Kosovo marked Nowruz or "new year", a celebration marking the beginning of spring and the birth of Imam Ali, one of the most revered figures in Islam. Sufi faithful gathered in their lodge known as a tekke, in the western town of Gjakove for a ritual ceremony that involves dancing to the rhythm of drum beats until they reach a state of trance.
