There are a surprising number of professionals and schools who have an autism eye contact training program. But I really don’t think that’s a great idea to start focusing on such a skill, especially when there are a number of other important skills we should be focusing on. In today’s video I’m going to explain my reasoning behind and this, but also provide some tips for improving eye contact for children with autism. We obviously don’t want to be forcing eye contact on the child, but there are some tweaks you can make to your parenting and teaching strategies to have a minor focus on eye contact.
