Hundreds were forced to flee the South Korean coastal city of Gangneung after a wildfire fuelled by strong winds destroyed multiple homes as plumes of smoke surrounded the town and the sea's horizon.
Officials say that the fire likely began when a tree fell over a power line after being snapped by high winds.
More than 570 firefighters, six helicopters and 41 fire engines were mobilized to extinguish the fire in Gangneung.
