Nexter shows you how scientists have managed to recreate the faces of some famous people just by using their bones and portraits. And the result look really realistic. Check them out!
Cleopatra VII Philopator
The recreation of the renowned face of Cleopatra was a work made by reconstruction artist M.A. Ludwig. It is based on an actual bust that was considered to be the Queen of Egypt.
Johann Sebastian Bach
This work was made by Scottish anthropologist Caroline Wilkinson. She took measurements of Bach’s facial bones and recreated a 3D image of what the composer’s face must have looked like. It looks very similar to his portraits.
Henry IV of France
This CGI 3D forensic facial reconstruction of this King of France was made by Philippe Froesch. In order to do it, he used the skull of the king as a base.
St Nicholas
The recreation of the face of a person that has inspired so many stories about Santa Claus was in the hands of the Liverpool John Moores University’s Face Lab. He was reportedly an olive-toned man with a broken nose. You can still imagine him with a long beard.
Do these recreations match the idea how these historical figures looked in reality? It is amazing what technology can do nowadays based on just some pieces of information. Who is a person that you would like to see recreated next?
