As part of the Dean's Speaker Series [ Ссылка ] at Berkeley Haas, Dr. Ferguson discusses his leadership lessons from a career that spans both the private and public sectors and includes being named the first African-American vice chairman of the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System and serving as one of only three African-American CEO’s of a Fortune 500 company.
In his current role as head of TIAA, Mr. Ferguson oversees one of the nation’s largest financial institutions, providing financial services and security for more than 5 million customers from the academic, medical, cultural, governmental and other non-profit sectors, and managing over $900 billion in assets.
Dr. Ferguson has been a vocal advocate for the importance of advancing diversity on corporate boards and has openly challenged his fellow CEO’s to be “game changers and to make a difference”. Under his leadership, TIAA has been named by Black Enterprise magazine as one of the 40 best companies for diversity.
