Violence erupted on Tuesday afternoon (24/12) in the Serbian capital Belgrade, and riot police used force for the first time against demonstrators since opposition groups began their daily street protests over a month ago. Anti-riot police used tear gas and night sticks against the crowds, firstly as they tried to separate the two rival groups: one pro-Milosevic, and the other in opposition.
