Dana Bourgeois knows wood. We've had great luck on a few of his dreadnoughts with this Peruvian wood, so we decided to try it on his OM, knowing it would be stellar. And it is. While we are all feverishly hunting for the heir apparent to the all-but-unobtainable Brazilian Rosewood, Dana Bourgeois is quietly leading us into the next Golden Era of guitar construction with new tonewoods and new technologies. We are thrilled, then, to offer our FIFTH Bourgeois guitar to arrive with PERUVIAN ("Sacha") Rosewood and we are here to testify: The wood has most of the harmonic qualities of Honduran Rosewood (without the weight) and Brazilian Rosewood (without the high price), and some desirable "woody" qualities that neither have. It's like mahogany on steroids, or walnut in overdrive, if any of that that makes any sense. It sure is good looking stuff with copper, green, and black highlights, with thick spider-webbing. The tone is bell-like but less dense and bright than Honduran or Cocobolo. 1 and 3/4″ nut width PYRAMID bridge with 2 and 5/16″ spacing, Cool!! Waverly tuners, hide glue construction, DB Signature top purfling (nice) and a fresh outlook. Honest, no foolin. Just a magnificent sounding guitar. Our List: $ 5,995 One might argue that it is seriously under-priced at that point...We would not argue.
