The completely revamped Prius, now in its fifth generation, seems to be the perfect medicine. It's far more potent than before, gets somewhat better gas mileage, and has lots of additional features like solar panels and hands-free driving. Whoa, it looks amazing! The 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine and the electric motor in the new Prius plug-in hybrid combine for 223 horsepower (164 kW). The Prius can now go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds thanks to the increased power (compared to the 11.1 seconds before). Toyota said that the new Prius' fuel economy was unchanged from the outgoing 1.8-liter model, despite the higher engine displacement.

The Prius's exact dimensions were also disclosed. The vehicle is 50 millimeters shorter, 46 millimeters shorter overall, and 22 millimeters wider all around, with a wheelbase that is 50 millimeters longer. Wheel sizes up to 19 inches in diameter are now available on the new Prius.

The new Island Architecture framework used in the construction of the new Prius's cabin allows for more space, thanks to the division of the cabin into three zones: the environment, the driver module, and the floating instrument panel. A seven-inch TFT LCD screen is installed in front of the driver. Alerts from the Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance system are linked to the instrument panel illumination, projecting alerts in a variety of colors.

The Prius's Toyota Safety Sense system has been upgraded with a front camera that has a broader field of view laterally and vertically and doubles the forward detection capabilities of previous models. This improves the camera's ability to detect close things at an earlier time and to recognize a broader range of potential risks, such as roadside objects. The pre-collision system, lane tracing assistance, and front cross-traffic alert are all bolstered by radar sensors installed in the front side panel.

Pre-collision notifications have also been improved and now cover motorcycles and oncoming cars thanks to the expanded detection range. Together, the new Intersection Collision Avoidance Support and the pre-collision system cooperate in monitoring for and reacting to potential collisions involving people and other vehicles at intersections while the vehicle is in motion.
