"... Squire Sincere Parris's shop seemed haunted. The merchant asked Red to find his business partner Jane, who had recently gone missing.

Investigating Jane's belongings, the banishers learned that she had been tracking a group of mercenaries. In her hunting grounds by her "fiery grove", thay learned that she'd been killing them, one by one. Her trail led to the mercenaries' old campsite in the swamps.

In the swamps, the banishers found Jane's ghost, still tracking Hummingbirds. They learned too that Squire Sincere Parris had traded with the Hummingbirds. It was he who sold them the smallpox-infected blankets. The mercenaries intended to weaken the tribe in order to take their land..."
