Declan Donnelly is set to become a dad, with the news that he and his wife Ali Astall are expecting their first child. The happy news comes at the end of a troubled week for the TV presenter following his screen partner Ant McPartlin’s drink-driving arrest and subsequent return to rehab. A source told The Sun: ‘They are both absolutely delighted to be expecting – especially as they have been trying for some time.’ The couple – who were married in 2015 – are reported to have broken the news to Ant. It’s thought that Ali became pregnant shortly after Dec returned home from the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity in Australia – but they kept it quiet until she had passed the important 12-week stage. Advertisement Advertisement And it’s given Dec something to celebrate during a particularly difficult time – following the news he will be appearing on TV without Ant for the first time in their 30-year partnership. ‘This has come at a difficult time for them both, given everything that Ant is now going through and the pressure that has put on Dec in the past week,’ the source said. ‘But their priority now is their baby and an experience that they see as the best of their lives.’ Dec will be presenting the final two editions of Saturday Night Takeaway without Ant on March 31 and April 7 – when the show comes from Orlando – and will reportedly also host the Britain’s Got Talent live shows alone. Ant has been charged with drink driving following his collision with a family’s car on Sunday, 18 March on Lower Richmond Road. He will appear in court on 4 April.
