An Indian drink made with yogurt and spices and flavoured with a smoky effect.
SMOKED CHAAS
Ingredients
2 cups yogurt
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves + for garnishing
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
7-8 curry leaves
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon oil
Method
1. Grind together 1 cup yogurt, mint leaves, coriander leaves, salt and ginger to make a smooth mixture.
2. Add 2 cup water and mix well.
3. Place hot coal in a small steel bowl and place it into a large bowl. Pour the buttermilk mixture into large bowl. Add curry leaves, green chillies, cumin seeds and oil into the coal. Cover the large bowl with an aluminium foil and keep for 5 minutes.
4. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
