Poet Luisa Ternau reads “Shout” by 12th-century Sufi poet Sheikh Farīd al-Dīn Masʿūd Ganj-i-Shakar (Baba Farid). Baba Farid’s poetic experience situates itself in the busy working day of farmers. The gravity of his tone points to his Sufi philosophy: as long as man has not attained peace of mind and inner maturity, he should shout out his own immaturity, giving an outlet for his anxious mind, until the ripened bushel (maturity) is collected and the silence of the sage is achieved.
