I'm wild about wild fruit and getting a Cornelian Cherry Dogwood tree to grow for free from a seed in our compost is like getting a wonderful gift! I'm just happy to have noticed it in time growing among our tomatoes. Just goes to show you that it's important to keep a sharp lookout for volunteers among your plantings :-)
Cornelian Cherry Dogwood (called "som" in Hungarian) produces a fruit that is a delicious and tart vitamin bomb. It's almost like a mix of cranberry and sour cherry. Make sure to check out my previous videos on this wonderful food that grows in the wild and provides fresh fruit in fall.

You can learn more about this tree here [ Ссылка ] but some interesting tidbits are that the wood is so dense it will actually sink in water (one of the few woods to do that) and it was highly prized for making tools, machine parts, and weapons.
