After a failed attempt to try some authentic Texas BBQ at the Pit Room the other night, I was not going to give up. Also, a big thank you to everyone who suggested great places to try and BBQ places that one simply must visit. And I recall David Sriracha posted a video about a wondering BBQ experience that I simply must try ... and that took me on a journey outside of Houston all the way past Auston to Driftwood, Texas.
After a bit of a drive, I arrived at the impressive grounds of The Salt Lick BBQ. Not only can I smell the smokey goodness in the air, upon a little exploring, I was able to find their winery along with their picnic grounds where you can feast on their BBQ and enjoy a drink or two BYOB style. And if you did not bring any beverages, the winery has you covered.
With all going on, I almost forgot one important fact; it's an unlimited - All You Can Eat Texas BBQ! And as good as the food and drinks were, it was the people you meet that made the experience exceptional; from the hosts and the servers to the families and fellow patrons there, all made this great BBQ feast an exceptional one!
I still can't get over the price of $32 for the tender smokey brisket and luscious pork ribs...what an incredible deal! Once again, things are simply bigger in Texas!
