This video shows the upgrade and set up of a well-used Squier Affinity Strat in cream. I bought this guitar for very little money because it wasn't in great cosmetic condition (the finish has lots of 'sticker' shadows and scuffs where someone has tried polishing things out) and the frets were worn flat from being played to death. A guitar in this condition is on the verge of being thrown in the bin or junked for parts - which makes it the perfect candidate to be Reloved.
What does it take to Relove it? This video shows what I chose to do: I re-radiused and re-fretted the neck (to make it as good as new - better in fact, since I also level the frets with precision); I replaced the broken pickguard and I fitted new Ironstone Gold pickups.
The result is a born-again, road-worn guitar with real character that plays and sounds fantastic, way better than it should.
