About the speaker:- Although most of Prof. Peter Stanley's more than 40 books have been in Australian military history, the military social history of British India has always been one of his greatest interests. He has written about the East India Company's forces, Indian troops in the Gallipoli campaign and British troops in India in the Great War, and has written five historical novels set in India. His research has led him to archival and fieldwork in India over more than thirty years. In this talk, he reflects as an historian on aspects of those encounters with India and with Indians.
