David Giwerc, MCAC, MCC Founder/President of the ADD Coach Academy, shares the story of:
Eileen Henry, Ed.D.,Associate Professor of Education and Executive Director PLUS Center and David Tabachnick, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Sociology from Muskingum University in Ohio were working with students with ADHD and learning differences who were transitioning from high school to college.
During the First Step Summer Transition Program they asked the students to present their transition stories using a video diary format.
Initially, all of the students felt a lot of anxiety, but once they were given the latitude to express their authentic ideas without judgment, every single student succeeded. Once each student's executive function was accessed using their unique ADHD brain wiring, they were able to tell their story and then present it in public to their classmates.
When you give students with ADHD permission to proceed using their unique gifts, they begin to embrace them and surprise themselves with how capable they really are. The success they eventually create becomes a resource of positive emotion and intrinsic motivation which they can use as a resource to remind themselves of what they are capable of creating.
The program at Muskingum University represents a program where students with ADHD learn and grow in a safe, accepting academic environment where they are encouraged to express their natural creativity. This often strengthens their self confidence and ignites the emergence of other hidden talents that can be developed in the college setting.

ADDCA is an internationally known and respected ADHD coach training program. We provide the most effective ADHD coach training available anywhere in the world.
Our coaching philosophy emphasizes that people with ADHD aren't broken, or "less than" anyone else. ADHD is not an excuse for poor concentration or impulsiveness; it is an explanation of what gets in their way but also makes them unique. It focuses on paying attention to what they uniquely can do rather than being stuck on what they can't do.
Our ADHD coach training programs are perfect for:
• Those interested in becoming a certified ADHD coach as a new profession and empowering others with ADHD to create fulfilling lives with purpose and meaning.
• Those interested in learning more about how to better manage their own ADHD or that of a loved one.
Those with ADHD just have a different brain wiring that needs to be better understood. Once an indidvidual has a better comprehension of their own ADHD, the situations, issues they face on a daily basis can be managed more effectively.
